Weather that changes before lunch
Freeze, thaw, and a haul that changes by noon. We write Anchorage work around that, not around a sequence borrowed from somewhere milder.

The forecast in Anchorage is a suggestion until about ten in the morning. Freeze, thaw, a haul that looked fine at the gate and is a different road by noon. We write the work around that. We do not borrow a sequence from a milder city and hope the week behaves.
Ordinary ways a plan fails
The lift you wanted needs a window you no longer have. The delivery slips and the crane time does not. Mud that was a path at the meeting is a stop by lunch. None of this is dramatic. It is Tuesday.
If the sequence cannot bend without coming apart, it was written for somewhere else. We leave room in the day for the task that has to move, and we say out loud which one can wait.
Home ground
The people who will live with the building, the road, or the pad are why the standard stays where it is. They are here in January. We are based in Anchorage. This is home ground, and the finish has to make sense after we leave.
We will slow a task on Tuesday before we hand someone work that only held up on a calm afternoon.
